Orang National Park

Orang National Park, often referred to as the "Mini Kaziranga National Park," is one of Assam's most beautiful and biologically rich protected areas. Situated on the northern banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River in the Darrang and Sonitpur districts of Assam, Orang National Park covers an area of approximately 79.28 square kilometers. Despite its relatively small size, the park is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, picturesque wetlands, lush grasslands, and thriving populations of endangered wildlife.

Established as a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1985 and declared a National Park in 1999, Orang National Park is one of the most important wildlife conservation areas in Northeast India. It is particularly famous for its healthy population of the One-Horned Rhinoceros, making it one of the best places in India to witness these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.

With its rich ecosystem, abundant wildlife, scenic landscapes, and peaceful surroundings, Orang National Park is a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers.

Orang National Park has a fascinating conservation history. The area was originally inhabited by local communities who later relocated, allowing the forests and grasslands to regenerate naturally. Recognizing the ecological significance of the region, the Government of Assam declared it a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1985 to protect its unique biodiversity.
